Just like summer

I was busy drifting into a bubble of gold

Journeys through the fire bush to find the seaboard

Endless hours in the sun, my skin was like butter

Tuscan sun inspired Instagram filters

In the space of three or four swipes

Your smile caught my eyes

Hot summer girl in a frenzy

Can you imagine the medley?

Looking back now, you barged into my life like when you enter a room

Tall and loud, you need to spread your spirit everywhere you go

And, without fail, that night, it’s the imprint you left on my ego

Life took up its course again

But a sweet taste of honey remained

Fuelled by the anticipation

To hear you laugh again, was an obsession

It obviously happened

I even got more than I envisioned

And then it all vanished

As quick as it appeared

Just like summer.
